Greetings of Peace
By: M. SIDDIEQ NOORZOY   IN CONSULTATIONS WITH CONCERNED AFGHANS AND AMERICANS

We are writing to the members of NATO to consider their role in the war and occupation of Afghanistan.

CONDITIONS IN AFGHANISTAN ARE WORSENSING AND LOSSES OF LIVES HAVE DRAMATICALLY INCREASED. SIGAR TWEETED ON MAY 19, 2019 STATING THAT ACCORDING TO THE UN SOURCES THERE WERE 10,993 CASUALTIES IN 2018 IN AFGHANISTAN WITH 62% MEN, 28% CHILDREN AND 10% WOMEN. THIS YEAR SEEMS EQUALY TROUBLING. AGAIN REFERENCING SIGAR AFGHANISTAN HAS BEEN TURNED INTO TWO CONTROL ZONES WITH DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT CONDITIONS. FIFTY THREE PERCENT (53%) UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE GOVERNMENT BACKED BY THE US-CUM-NATO MILITARY FORCES AND FORTY SEVEN PERCENT (47%) CONTROLED BY THE FORCES OF THE TALIBAN. IN THE FORMER AREAS MOSTLY URNBAN THERE ARE CRIMES, RAMPANT CORRUPTION, OPEN DEMAND FOR BRIBES TO GET A JOB WITH THE REGIME, AND MASSES OF THE POOR AND NEGLECTED AFGHANS INCLUDING THE REFUGEE RETURNEES, INTERNALLY DISPALCED FROM THE WAR AND THE MASSES OF THE UNEMPLOYED. IN THE LATTER CONDTIONS ARE MUCH DIFFERENT ACCORDING TO AFGHANS WHO HAVE TRAVELLED RECENTLY WHERE ONE DOES NOT HEAR ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS AFFLECTING THE 53% AREAS. PROBLEMS IN AFGHANISTAN ARE COMPLEX. BUT THESE PROBLEMS CANNOT BE SOLVED THROUGH MORE FAILING POLICIES SUPPORTING MORE WAR AND OCCUPATION. WASHINGTON POLITICIANS FIGHITING FOR POWER AND CONTROL HAVE REACHED THEIR OWN STALEMATE AND MANY POLICY AREAS ARE NEGLECTED DUE TO INFIGHTING. SO OUR QUESTIONS RAISED ABOUT THE NEGLECTED WAR MAKING POLIICIES AND OCCUPATION OF AFGHANISTAN FALL ON DEAF EARS. WILL YOU AS NATO MEMBERS SUPPORT JUST PEACE AND END OF OCCUPATION OF AFGHANISTAN AND SUPPORT AFGHANISTAN THROUGH EU TO REBUILD AND LIVE IN PEACE AMONG THE COMMUNITY OF PEACEFUL NATIONS?

Peace,

M. SIDDIEQ NOORZOY
